Sometimes when you can no longer carry it, there is no other option but to leave it.
HAUT x Bikubenfonden Pop Up Residency
> residency period from 20.04. - 03.05.2020
Our study takes the form of a collage of various art forms and artistic voices that, in a time-shifted narrative of character Celeste tells of human frailty, survival and legacy.
With references to the influence of mythologies and myths on the human condition today, we explore the possibilities of the prolonged encounter, the silent defense, the exhausting in carrying around the past and how to renounce something that has already been established. Inspired by the human strike (Tiqunn), which describes silences, interruptions, and acts of refusal as an attempt to short-circuit an existing system, we slowly and gently explore the possibility of changing prehistoric narratives, and thus try to create a space of opportunity in which moving immobility contributes moments where new perceptions and perspectives can flourish.

The performance Celeste takes shape in the field of tension between past and present, reality and fiction, and between object and subject, and thus tries to challenge the Binary notions that govern our existence.
In the present time we live in, where individualism is the norm, the collective process of creation itself can be considered an activist choice - and at the same time poses the question whether the goal of gesamtkunstwerk anno 2020 is for the artistic practices involved to be shaped into one hybrid expression, as Wagner's ideology would have it?
Our focus is to understand and explore how artistic attitudes can coexist, thereby creating a meaningful dialogue without mutual or unilateral appropriation.
Rooted in a deep belief in the relevance of creating worlds across artistic disciplines, Celeste is initiated by Ea Verdoner in close dialogue and collaboration with Lea Guldditte Hestelund, Cæcilie Trier and August Rosenbaum.
