Busyness is movement. Silence is dead. Death is slow. Life is busy. Busy is life. We are alive. Life = Bustle.
Have we become addicted to being busy? Do we feel most alive when we are busy? Are we still “human beings” or have we become”human doings“?
These questions are explored when T.I.T.S. invites inside for a work in progress display of the project CULT OF BUSY, the result of a week of Exile at HAUT.
Being in a hurry has become man's favorite intoxicant. We spend the majority of our time being busy with trivial tasks. Our world has become one big anthill; we build, we run, we create movement.
CULT OF BUSY is an audiovisual dance performance that examines, through movement, audio, video and text, the mental and physical experience of 'busyness', and reflects on our current state as “human doings” who constantly need to stay busy.
T.I.T.S. works in non-hierarchical constellations, where ideas are developed collectively and the possibilities of hybrid theatrical forms are explored. CULT OF BUSY is developed in constellation of seven artists - four performers, two scenographer/costume/lighting designer, as well as a video artist.
CULT OF BUSY starts as concrete ideas, tasks or research, proposed by each of the individuals of the group, which is later developed collectively. Together they listen, try, fail and experiment, and the decisions are made organically. Therefore, idea and execution can rarely be traced back to just one person. The ideas are considered collective property.
