This IN SEED residency is the container for the artistic research of Alma Silva, Klara Lopez and Elle Fierce.

Dark Venus is an exploration of self-mythology as a DECOLONIAL STRATEGY for LIBERATION. Alma Silva has spent the last years immersing herself in spirituality, esotericism, and spectrality to find healing and to develop a language for the darker aspects of love. Alma Silva uses this language to build a character titled Dark Venus. Dark Venus represents the shadow of love, which asks us to confront our darkest, most hidden depths in order to find a freer way of loving. Dark Venus embodies dark femininity, mystery, power, and liberation, which Alma Silva experiments with by inhabiting multiple spheres, such as text, sound, movement, and video.

The hope is to address the following questions: When does fiction cross into reality and is there a need for such distinction? Can self-mythology combat the whitewashing of spirituality and unearth deeper forms of ancestry? Can self-mythology become part of a larger strategy of black fugitivity to subvert colonial narratives about selfhood and love? What’s the role and history of Afro-Brazilian syncretism in all of this?

The artists are invited into parallel IN SEED-residencies. They exchange and converse across their artistic practices without necessarily collaborating.

Alma Silva (suziethecockroach)

Alma Silva (suziethecockroach) is a Brazilian artist based in Copenhagen. Silva works at intersection of writing, music, and movement; and has spent the past couple of years merging these practices into a hybrid of embodied readings and live performances. In 2025, she published Figure 8, a short novel about self-mythology, time-travelling, and transformation. She is currently developing her second novel as she continuously explores self-authorship and queer mythologies in contemporary literature. She holds a BA in English from the University of Copenhagen.

Klara Lopez

Klara Lopéz (she/her) is a multidisciplinary visual and performance artist, with a BA from the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Her practice explores the simultaneous strength and vulnerability of the body through sensuous and sculptural aesthetics and movement. Lopéz’ expression plays in the spaces between intimacy, desire, co-existing, disconnecting and alienation. Her work engages with the subversion of technological structures, questioning how bodies are observed, mediated, and rendered indifferent within surveilled environments.

Elle Fierce

Weaving together dance, speech, video work and DJ’ing, her work explores the complexities and nuances within tropes of transness, queerness and blackness. Approaching performance from an intersectional perspective, Fierce presents an otherwise for radical solidarity as an opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of our bodies. Fierce’s work has been presented in galleries and stages across Europe.
