With the project Det Levende Lys (The Living Light), the interdisciplinary art group will explore formats that move between ritual, concert, and dissection of light.

They will attempt to develop a dynamic space using installations, light, and sound, where the audience's location and movement are an integral part of the performative space. The group is interested in repetition and interfaces: between the different senses, between people, between people and space, sound, and light. The Living Light stems from a fascination with Hildegard von Bingen, a 12th-century German Benedictine abbess, and her lifelong passion for sharing her spiritual experiences. These came to her as sensory visions and were transformed into countless artistic expressions – text, painting and music.

The group will explore her descriptions of the divine (living) light and her own work across art forms in an attempt to convey this. The desire is to create a space that feels like sitting in the middle of one of her visions.

The project is a collaboration between set designer Naja Schønemann, composer Kaja Mærk Egeberg, installation artist Nina Tind, choreographer Jakob Krog, and musician Dóra Haraszti.
