IN PRODUCTION: AN ANGRY WOMAN
An Angry Woman is an artistic exploration of women’s ANGER, with a particular focus on the experiences of BROWN WOMEN.
During this residency, Ilham seeks to explore the relationship between the PERFORMANCE and the AFTERTALK as one cohesive DRAMATURGICAL WHOLE.
How can CONVERSATION become an integrated part of the work’s form? How can ANGER be experienced physically and collectively—not merely as a narrative? Ilham will experiment with scenographic structures, audience placement, and performative approaches that create space for collective reflection.
The investigation takes its starting point in a personal story and moves within the tension between the INDIVIDUAL and the STRUCTURAL. It addresses feminism and the right to be seen as a whole human being. The story is not merely presented on stage; it becomes an experience that opens up space for DIALOGUE and connection between audience members.
The residency will give Ilham and her team the opportunity to further develop the work’s various ELEMENTS—including the physical performance, the sound and musical universe, and the lighting design—in order to strengthen the overall dramaturgical coherence of the piece.
During the residency, Ilham will work with her regular team, consisting of her stage manager, who also directs, as well as a sound designer and a lighting designer.
ILHAM HERESI works as a playwright, actor, and performer at the intersection of theatre and performance, often using the monologue as a form. Her work is text-driven and intimate, exploring identity, feminism, and the structures that regulate and suppress women’s anger.
Her practice draws on dramatic writing, physical presence, and direct address to the AUDIENCE. Her artistic language balances humour and seriousness, combining poetic and precise language with a clear political undertone.
She is interested in exploring the tension between the personal and the cultural, transforming these experiences into a theatrical expression that can create recognition and reflection.
