Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, is a legend. Even after his death, the myth and music lives on wherever in the world you find yourself. His controversial appearance created oust and admiration, and his transformations through life made him a pop icon that is hard to fathom. Who was Michael Jackson? What was Michael Jackson?

Much speculation about Michael Jackson's life still abounds to this day. Michael Jackson lived in Bahrain for an extended period in 2008.

Did this period become seminal for his life? Did he become a Muslim? Was he killed by the CIA because he converted to Islam? This is a theory the playwright Zara Lea Palmquist became familiar with when she was first in Cairo. Zara went to Cairo again in 2017 to investigate the fertile ground of the theory in an Arab population. Which Michael Jackson lives on in the metropolis of Cairo? Who is he seen through a Middle Eastern gaze? Could he be a pop messiah, forging union between a Western and a Middle Eastern culture?

The evening offers a working view on the first development of MICHAEL JACKSON IN MY VEINS and there will subsequently be a conversation about the process, as well as the opportunity to ask questions.

In a collaboration between playwright Zara Lea Palmquist, director Johan Saraw and performers Ida Katinka Fridan Pedersen and Jens Alexander Kepny Kristensen, MICHAEL JACKSON IN MY VEINS in Exile at HAUT to investigate and unfold material from Cairo in a scenic space.
