I’m a mouth and I eat the world.
Pratical information
This worksharing takes place outdoors.
In this artistic research Alvilda Faber Striim, Sven Buse and Joëlle McGovern Serret present a body and propose objects and spaces as its extra attachments.
Legs, faces, gestures and territories. Here is a body and here is more of it. How can a body claim a further and more extended form? How to prolong the process of the gaze’s strict separation between object and body?
The worksharing is a study of the relation between what we know and what we see. How can the imaginative visually function as a means of power, and what kind of perception holds power?
SUB BODY is a fictive body evoked by dreams and the subconscious. In a world often favouring the rational and what can be measured, the project delves into materializing fantasy.
What makes something real?
Alvilda Faber Striim (she/her) is a dance artist exploring choreographic potentials of bodily encounters.
Through a physical and visual approach, the work proposes universes that intersect reality and fiction. Doing so, she explores how to unfold political and anthropological layers from the organisation of bodies with other bodies or with visually strong objects. As such, Alvilda is interested in examining how objects can be anthropomorphized in performative settings as co-authors with human bodies.
Through exploring imaginary bodies with for example extra appendages attached to the body, such as extra legs or a wig constantly floating in the air, body and object are suggested as subjects and mediums, creating situations that straddle both humor and tragedy.

YC FESTIVAL 2023 was the last edition of HAUT’s biennial festivals, and took place at Teaterøen, Copenhagen. The festival was conceptualised and co-curated by the artists Lydia Ö. Diakité, Vala T. Foltyn and Jari Malta. Together, we discussed the term cultivation and its readings, such as acts of caring, of nurturing, and of fertilizing.
