A manifestation of the sound that does not exist

The group seeks to create an aesthetic futuristic field for adopted, specifically with emphasis on the sonic perspective. Through listening and with inspiration from Afro-, Indigenous and Asian futurisms, they investigate a shared healing sound as well as that which ties them together.

The artistic research is based on the assumption that they will move with the sound of the phantoms that manifest themselves in the work. The artists focus on finding togetherness despite their different points of and countries of origin. They will explore which kind of knowledge they may gather to strengthen the adopted body, how to create acces, when all has been a coincidence, and how they can create resonances with the existing artistic discourse on adoption.

The group has been newly assembled based on a desire for diversity in artistic practice, age, adoption experiences, country of origin, as well as life and performing arts experience.

This group of artists has been invited to the residency through the open call IN PROCESS – BRIDGING, which focused on exploring and experimenting with transitions and bridge-building as part of artistic practice. The open call was curated in collaboration with performance-maker Anika Barkan. The group has been personally invited into another week of residency by HAUT's artistic leader Alex Blum.
